The Montessori Method is an education philosophy for children developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, a medical doctor and an avid student of psychology. She combined her knowledge of both fields to create a unique and improved methodology to allow students to develop at an individualized pace of learning. To ensure her studies were accurate, she observed children following a standard educational path as well as children following her alternative path. The success Dr. Montessori witnessed with her educational methodology kept her studies alive for many years.
The Montessori Method focuses on individuality and personal drive, allowing each student to follow their own interests as the student learns. The unique benefit is that students learn at a self-driven pace and can advance to the next skill level as mastery occurs, and conversely those students needing more time understanding a topic are not pressured to keep up with their peers.
Social Graces and Courtesies are an important and fundamental component in our Montessori Kids Universe programs. We treat children with respect and believe that a certain level of independence is necessary in order to allow the child to follow their interests. With that granted independence, children follow their own interests and are also guided. Modeling respect for our children we also instill in the students respect for themselves, their classmates, teachers, classroom, community and the universe in which they live.
In the recent years, The Montessori Method has been gaining popularity.
